In her article, “Reminder of old evil” (March 23), Sarah Green writes that “Mr. Grunbaum was forced into a Polish ghetto”.  World War II in German-occupied Poland was indeed a very evil time.  Poland was the greatest victim of that war.

It was attacked from both sides by two totalitarian powers, Hitler’s Germany and Stalin’s Russia.  It was those regimes, and not the Poles, who built ghettos and concentration camps and murdered and deported millions of Poland's
citizens.
